This is modern winemaking mixed with historic dirt.
Savoury and plummy on the nose with touches of pencil and graphite lead. Earthy and savoury tasting with sweet dark purple plums and blackcurrant jelly fruits, a touch of liquorice, a nuance of boot leather, then fresh acidity imparting a jaffa-like lift and brightness. More medium than full-bodied in palate weight with a smooth silky texture and a long, juicy, easygoing finish.
It looks Italian (for sure), feels Italian but has a sense of modernity in the taste. Very enjoyable drinking here for little outlay.
