Mark Bredif Classic Vouvray 2020

Our favourite Euro white for all round quality and appeal!!!

"The domaine of Marc Bredif is one of the most famous names in the Loire, renowned for the longevity and quality of his Vouvray. Established in 1893 under the name of Chateau les Roches it wasn't until 1919 when Marc Bredif took over from his uncle, that the name was changed to mark the change of ownership. The ethereal Chenin Blanc from Marc Bredif remains a benchmark for the region; delicious, nervy and vividly sketched when young it morphs into an infinitely complex wine with age taking on characters of dried honey, lanolin and calvados, still with that ceramic-like sheen of minerally acidity.

"The Vouvray Chenin Blanc 2020 is a beautiful crystalline pale yellow. A fine nose reminiscent of well-ripe yellow fruits (peach and pear), to which are added notes of exotic fruits such as pineapple and shades of citrus. The attack is full and rich, with a lot of volume, evolving on a lemony freshness and long and lively exotic fruit finish." Winery

"Ripe, fruity and delicately complex with scents of fresh red apple and quince, there’s a classic wet wool quality and light chalky soil layer and white flower honeysuckle scent folding in more complexity and plenty of charm. A silky texture touches the palate first with a core of apple and white fleshed fruits, a touch of citrus then flavours of abstract scents that reflect the bouquet. Just dry, complex, charming and delicious. Best drinking from 2025 through 2030+. Rated Outstanding & 95/100 Cameron Douglas MS, June 2022
