Trophy: Royal Easter Show wine awards 2020 & Champion Wine of the Show. Gold Medal NZIWS.
Typically a great buy, with greater richness and complexity than most $27 Chardonnays. Fresh and youthful, the 2019 vintage (4.5*) is a mouthfilling, sweet-fruited wine, hand-picked, mostly in the Tuki Tuki Valley, and fermented and matured for 11 months in French oak barrels (19 per cent new). Bright, light yellow/green, it has generous, ripe stone-fruit flavours, toasty and mealy notes adding complexity, balanced acidity and good potential. Best drinking 2022+. Michael Cooper
Bright, poised chardonnay with citrus, grapefruit, struck-flint, nectarine, baguette crust, and cashew nut flavours. A stylish wine with impressive purity and energy. Subtle power and an ethereal texture. Very good value at this price. (Screwcap) Score: 94 ★★★★, Buy of the week, The Real Review.
