McArthur Ridge Brass Knocker Central Otago Pinot Noir 2021
Buy of the week - Bob Campbell, The Real Review
"How do you make and sell a recognisably Central Otago pinot noir for the modest sum of NZD $19.99?
Part of the answer must be to make lots of it. Certainly, the McArther Ridge vineyard was viticulture on a grand scale when I last visited it some considerable time ago. The wine shows no sign of being stretched or pushed. It is simply a good drink.
McArthur Ridge’s entry-level wine delivers more than it’s price suggests it might. Pretty cherry and violet flavours with a seasoning of spice. There is a touch of wood-smoke suggesting clumsy oak but the wine delivers plenty for its humble price tag. (Screwcap)
Score: 89 ★★★ Bob Campbell, 89/100
Following on from the success of the Southern Tor. McArthur Ridge do it again but at a silly, silly price. Rest assured this price will not be about long. In fact this is only a Matariki Weekend special for us.
Decanter Wine Awards 2022, 95/100 and Gold medal. “Nice bouquet, pretty and fresh, a core of light red berry fruits with a fine savoury layer adding depth and charm. Lovely mouthfeel,
delicious and long.”
