$22.99

Hailed by critic Tim Atkin as a bodega offering ‘Best Value Rioja’, Bodegas Patrocinio make a juicy red that’ll please any Rioja fan.

Born from the renowned, high-altitude Rioja Alta, this silky, food-friendly red is the perfect dinner party guest.

This Crianza has just arrived with a new vintage from a distributor that has the ability to continually source remarkable wines within reach of all budgets. Within a reasonably congested category this Rioja manages to stand very tall through the quality in bottle and the reputation that arrives with it.

Produced by the cooperative Bodegas Patrocinio in the small Rioja Alta village of Urunuela. 100% Tempranillo aged in American oak for 12 months.

"A classic Crianza with flavours of fresh, lush berry fruits balanced with very well-judged use of oak. This wine doesn't exhibit powerful oak flavours but the barrel ageing lends the wine extra character, roundness and complexity, with flavours of cinnamon, exotic spice and wood smoke swirling around the generous red fruits." n, exotic spice and wood smoke swirling around the generous red fruits." Winery notes

"Beautifully fruited and inviting, the wine presents dark plum, clove, game, and tapenade aromas on the nose, followed by a succulent palate that offers a plump mouthfeel and silky texture. It's sweetly ripe with savoury nuances, finishing long and delectable. At its best: now to 2028." 5 Stars & 93/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, May 2025 (2021 Vintage)
