Podere is the Umani Ronchi version of Montepulciano d’Abruzzo, one of the most widespread indigenous varieties in Italy, cultivated predominantly along the Adriatic side (East coast), where the vines reach the perfect maturation. Our interpretation of this wine aims to exalt its varietal characteristics and its freshness, combining these qualities with just the right amount of charm and softness. The result is a very pleasant and drinkable wine which goes with many different kinds of dishes.
The vineyards from which we obtain the grapes are located predominantly in the provinces of Chieti and Teramo. The most widespread training system in the Abruzzo Region is the tendone, which is known for being a fairly productive system. Where it is used with the correct balance, it can yield grapes of excellent quality. Winery
An Italian go to for us. Sure the price has started to lift but it has always been great value and deserves more recognition.
"It’s hard to pull away from the glass, as the 2019 Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Podere wafts up notes of crushed violets, sweet spice, blackberries and wet stone. It’s soft and round, further soothing the senses with a pure display of ripe red berries as cooling acids maintain freshness. Purple-tinged florals and salty minerals linger, making for a pleasant conclusion to such a satisfying glass of no-frills Montepulciano." 89/100 Antonio Galloni of Vinous.com, April 2021
