Grant Burge Fifth Generation Shiraz 2018

Gold Medal & 96/100 – NWWA 2020 & Gold Medal – New Zealand International Wine Show 2020.

"The 2018 vintage saw an unusually dry summer and early autumn, coupled with the cool night-time temperatures allowed the vines to produce fruit with exceptional character and flavour while being harvested at lower degrees of sugar ripeness, producing vibrant, balanced, lower alcohol styles.

Aromas of lifted mulberry, clove, plum and milk chocolate, with confectionery notes as the wine opens up in the glass. The palate is medium – full bodied, this wine is plush and vibrant with strawberry jam, milk chocolate and blueberry characteristics. A lingering finish with a touch of fruit sweetness on the end." Winery notes

"Incredible value from a prestigious and renowned producer. This shiraz has a deep purple hue in the glass and delivers an intense and rich drinking experience. Lovely ripe, dark plum and rich red fruit are layered through the palate with the subtle black pepper that is so unmistakably shiraz. A powerful yet relaxed example of all that is great about the Barossa." 5 Stars, Top 10 & Best Buy Cuisine Australian Shiraz Tasting, August 2020
